These past few months, I’ve been harboring some real anger towards Filipino-Americans. You know the kind I’m talking about. After a few years abroad, they think they’re white and better than everybody back home.

I feel you.

Bubbles and Echo Chambers

After the U.S. elections last November 9, John Oliver was one of the few TV comedians who pointed out how the liberals also played a part in Donald Trump’s victory. Specifically how they’d been yelling into their own echo chambers because really, is someone who’s set on supporting a foul-mouthed bigot going to read your five-paragraph Facebook essay?

Getting called out like that was a little too late, but still necessary and I felt John Oliver’s sentiments about American liberals echo within me as well.

Whose mind was I changing with my Facebook rants? How is calling someone’s candidate a “foul-mouthed bigot” really helpful? It’s not like I ever finished reading a post from a supporter of Rodrigo Duterte┬áthat began with calling my candidate an unlikable and clueless member of the elite.
